In addition to a multimedia Trent Cole lovefest in the papers this morning (well deserved, good for Trent Cole), more than one blathermonkey stepped up to remind us all that (a) Dallas is coming to town this week and (b) it is right and just to hate on them.
Personally, I thought it was the most insightful thing Phil Sheridan has written in a while, if only because he was trying to channel the anger/ hatred/ bloodlust toward the other team, and not just the one we’re supposed to be rooting for. I’d say that they’re using their powers for good rather than evil, but I’m not exactly sure that’s correct. Anyhoo, way to pitch in, boys.
I especially liked the quotes from Sav Rocca, in which he demonstrated his familiarity with the Dallas rivalry, translated into non-American English:
“A lot of supporters come up to me and say, ‘I don’t care how the rest of the year goes, we just want to make sure we beat Dallas.’ ”
Rocca, a 33-year-old rookie who has been in Philadelphia about seven months, smiled and acknowledged that he got the message being conveyed by the hard-core Eagles “supporters” he has encountered.
“OK, we don’t like Dallas,” Rocca said. “That pretty much came across.”
Yes, we don’t like Dallas. We also hate the Giants, and, to a lesser extent, the Redskins. Just so that’s crystal clear.
By the way, the bandwagon is back in business and accepting new passengers — guess we don’t have to talk about firing Andy Reid this week!

Link Here | October 31, 2007,I don’t know what happened Phil Sheridan this year. Until recently, I thought of him as the “Voice of Reason” among the local b-monkeys.
He’s gone WAAAY negative on us this season, which I can’t blame him for, but he’s been as reactionary as a certain WIP morning show host that I know he doesn’t particularly care for.
F*** Dallas.
