Good effort. Compare to a truly bad season like 2005, or even 2007, where you'd probably have trouble coming up with 5 good Eagles games.

I'd go with:

5: Eagles 15, Steelers 6 -- I live around a lot of Steelers fans, so I really enjoyed this at the time, and it was a much-needed show of defense after the Cowboys loss. The Steelers winning the Superbowl actually bumps this down a bit for me. Everyone but me in York County bought new championship swag. Bummer.

4. Vikings Playoff game -- I wasn't too impressed with the Vikings as a playoff opponent before the game, but left with a healthy respect for their defense.

3. Eagles-Giants regular season
2. Eagles-Giants post-season (I pretty much agree with everything you said about both of these.)

1. Eagles 44, Dallas 6. I hate Dallas so much that any victory over them is pretty much my favorite game of the season. As long as TO is on that team, my hatred of them is exponentially greater than even my hatred of the Giants (clearly my 2nd most hated team) But, I think a playoff win over the Giants would top a "normal" win over the Cowboys.

Leading up to the game, I was prepared to be thrilled with the booby prize of knocking Dallas out of the playoffs. When I found out that amazingly the game would matter, I was, I admit, apprehensive. With so much on the line, I expected a close, low-scoring game.

I just can't think of a comparably-important game that just turned into a party like this. The 2000 and 2001 playoff victories over Tampa, perhaps? I watched it a packed sports bar, "Game On," on the Atlantic City shopping, and had a great time high-fiving and singing the fight song with other birds fans. Much better Eagles crowd than I expected from what I thought would be a cheesy tourist (of which I was one) bar.

But back to the game: the Cowboys were supposedly a good team. Completely embarrassing them=AWESOME. That they still haven't quite recovered=AWESOMER.

I mean, at one point it pretty much looked like Tony Romo was going to cry right there on the field.

I won't quite say this is the best Eagles game I've ever watched...but I will say that I think it was the most fun. A win I'll savor for a long time.

Not to be too much of a downer, because now that we're a few weeks away from the Cardinals loss, my perspective of the past season is mostly positive (compared to 2002 and 2003), but if the defense had held or the Eagles had been able to come back and win in OT against the Cardinals, I think that would have been one of the signature Eagles games of all time, especially if they'd gone on to win it all.
